  • All setting out : Piling, ground works, RC Frames – traditional, slip-form and pre-cast, steel frame, highways, tunnelling etc.
  • Surveys of existing ground levels with output showing contour lines and spot levels.
  • Accurate cut and fill calculations with output to .pdf and/or CAD files.
  • A fully documented QA system that ensures appropriate checks are made as work progresses.
  • Pre/post pour checks for reinforcement, shuttering, drainage, holding down bolts, formation levels etc.
  • Drainage surveys.
  • General site surveys with CAD overlays if required.
  • Datums and grid lines for sub-contractors.
  • Setting up of the initial site control and datums.
  • Volumes of spoil heaps using Digital Terrain Models.
  • Surveying and recording formation levels of excavations so that over dig is accurately recorded and quantified.
  • Plotting items on site that have critical positioning i.e. crane position and jib radius, output to .dwg and .pdf

Introducing Topographical Surveys

A topographical survey is a detailed and comprehensive mapping technique used to capture and represent the physical features of a land area. It provides accurate information about the terrain, natural and man-made features, and the spatial relationships between them. This survey plays a crucial role in a wide range of industries, including urban planning, engineering, construction, land development, and environmental management.

Topographical surveys employ various data collection methods to capture the characteristics of the land. These methods may include the use of advanced surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS receivers, and laser scanners. The survey team measures points across the site, including elevation, contours, trees, buildings, roads, bodies of water, and other significant features.

Topographical surveys aim to achieve a high level of accuracy and detail, typically represented in the form of a topographic map or a digital terrain model (DTM). These maps provide a precise representation of the land’s surface, including slopes, elevations, and changes in landform, enabling professionals to analyse and interpret the terrain effectively.

Benefits of Topographical Surveys from Grid Point:

There is a vast array of use cases for topographical surveys but the key benefits are within:

  • Planning and Design
  • Construction and Engineering
  • Environmental Analysis
  • Land Development and Real Estate
  • Asset Management

What Our Clients Say

Hague construction have been using Grid Point since 2016 after a recommendation from a member of our estimating dept. We had previously been using an agency for engineering requirements, who caused time and financial delays. From the first day on site it was obvious we were dealing with a far more professional company and within half an hour of arriving the engineer was on site setting out.

We look forward to future projects using Grid Point.
